After hearing arguments on September 9, 2025, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania convened a special ceremonial session to dedicate its Philadelphia courtroom in honor of Madame Justice Sandra Schultz Newman. Surrounded by family, friends, and judges from every level of Pennsylvania’s judiciary, Justice Newman was recognized for her trailblazing career and enduring contributions to the legal profession.

During the ceremony, she received letters of commendation from all three branches of government, celebrating her historic achievements—including becoming the first woman ever elected to the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. She was also presented with a four-volume collection of her published opinions, prepared by West, and two commemorative plaques that will be permanently installed in the newly named courtroom as a lasting tribute to her legacy.
